Group Leader of CSTS and lecturer at the TdLab

I work in the field of the anthropology of science (within science, technology and society studies, STS), focusing in particular on the study of interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary knowledge production processes. As a result, I am interested in methods and tools as well as concepts and theories as means of achieving transformative and developmental change. I have focused my research on the specific conditions for inter-and trans-disciplinary research and on the production and social use of knowledge in different countries, including the role of universities and other institutions. Postdoctoral Researcher

I am a Science and Technology Studies (STS) early career researcher, based in the Cultural Studies of Science group at the TdLab, in Zurich (Switzerland). My previous research has focussed on interdisciplinary doctoral training, educational and science policies, and their mutual entanglements, as well as consequences for students and Higher Education. My current work focusses on transdisciplinary practices at the boundary between academic and professional fields, as part of the project "Practice-based research: investigating research practices, outputs and impacts in Belgium-Flanders, Poland and Switzerland". Details on Nathalie's webpage

Senior Scientific Assistant

Connecting academic research with societal needs has been the central thread of my career. With over 14 years of experience in research management across three continents, I began my work after completing an MA in European Union Studies at Leiden University, first at the University of Waterloo in Canada and later at the University of Auckland in Aotearoa New Zealand. Across these roles, I developed and supported inter- and transdisciplinary initiatives focused on enhancing the societal, environmental, cultural, and economic dimensions of research. I am currently based at ETH Zurich in the Cultural Studies of Science and Technology group, where I lead the PATHWAYS project, a meta-research project investigating interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research practices at the University of Strasbourg. I am particularly interested in how institutions design, fund, and evaluate transdisciplinary research, and how these processes enable societal impact. Details on Madalina's webpage

Doctoral candidate

I am a doctoral student in the Cultural Studies of Science and Technology group. I hold a Bachelor degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology from the University of Zurich and a Master degree in Cognitive and Evolutionary Anthropology from the University of Oxford. I am interested in how research practices are influenced by underlying human cognitive and cultural capacities. The focus of my doctoral thesis lies on values involved in the practice and evaluation of inter- and transdisciplinary research and is part of the INTERSECTIONS project. I strive to strengthen the position of qualitative methods in the scientific landscape and contributes to the development of ethnographic approaches by combining them with cognitive paradigms. Doctoral candidate

In my doctoral studies, I investigate the role of norms and governance in inter- and transdisciplinary research. Embedded in the INTERSECTIONS project and anchored in Science and Technology Studies (STS), I focus on inter- and transdisciplinary research involving emerging technologies. I aim to contribute to governance mechanisms for emerging technologies that improve the participation and representation of societal actor groups. In my master's degree in philosophy from Freie Universität Berlin, I specialized in the interface of philosophy of science, cognitive science, and AI ethics. In my bachelor’s, I studied philology and philosophy at the University of Augsburg. At different NGOs, I worked on policies and societal implications of technologies. Details on Helena's webpage
