Bianca Vienni Baptista
Group Leader of CSTS and lecturer at the TdLab
I work in the field of the anthropology of science (within science, technology and society studies, STS), focusing in particular on the study of interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary knowledge production processes. As a result, I am interested in methods and tools as well as concepts and theories as means of achieving transformative and developmental change. I have focused my research on the specific conditions for inter-and trans-disciplinary research and on the production and social use of knowledge in different countries, including the role of universities and other institutions. Niti Bhan
Doctoral candidate
I have an MBA and am a PhD candidate in Aalto University School of Engineering (mechanical engineering department - product development track). My research explores creativity and innovation for sustainable futures in collaboration with Indigenous local and traditional knowledge holders. In 2012, I was invited to make the case for human-centered design planning for the Dutch government, as guest researcher at Wageningen University Economic Research Unit (09.2012-12.2013) in context of public private partnerships for sustainable development of agricultural value chains. For the East African Community, my design research firm was commissioned (11.2015 - 05.2016) to develop a robust methodology for mapping the dynamics of borderland trade to inform design of trade development programmes for the informal sector. Insights from my professional fieldwork are available on video (TED 2017; re:publica 2019) as well as in print (Harvard Business Review 2014a,b; BusinessWeek 2005).
